bag swappage received---me likey!

after eagerly doing this swap i sent away my little present (above) to the very lovely liz in NY, and just today got my own wonderful little hand bag in the mail!! (below)
the red bandana is soooo me, how did you know i wear a bandana exactly the same as that every day!!! (well 9 out 10 days anyways) i love it so much, the twee retro print is too cute. AND it's just the right dimensions to fit wine in. voila! boozebag! woohoo.
sorry, it's my 1st swappage and i'm very excited.
any other swaps out there/ i'm keen to do another...

aargh! no making at ALL on the weekend?

yep. that's right.
i.
did.
nuffin.

i really wanted to make so many things, a skirt i'm refashioning into a dress, take in some skirts and pants, and do the shoe refashion tutorial, but i was made, MADE to do other things.

my sister's birthday present: pistol shooting.
so much fun. i got to fire a magnum (dirty harry's gun). definately want to go back.

cheesing.
we went cheesing to red hill and got yummy fetta and some other runny thing i forget the name. and beers.

so no crafty type things, alas.

but i did rework my blog page-i think it's easier to read now.
and i put my logo as the header picture.
i'm completely useless at html/css/web writey type stuff so i hope it worked out ok.
next i have to rework the background.
i've designed my main label and sideseam pips (as shown below). i'm thinking i'll have to keep to black/white to keep the price down.
now to find somewhere to make the bloody things!

Tuesday 13 February 2007

well, after an amazing feedback from my little shoeslies refashion, clearly i have to blog a tutorial about how to do it so everyone else can remake their own shoes too!
so tomorrow i'm going to try the local op-shop and see if they have some shoes that look ok for remaking, and then i'll spotlight for some goodies to refashion em.
tutorial ahoy later this week...

oooh, a two-fer weekend

I went a little silly on the weekend and refashioned like crazeh.
These red pants were in that kinda ribbed fabric in polyester double knit that was uber popular in 1982 for grannies. (reminds me of my nanny) I was changing them to a wide leg, so I had to put an insert at each sideseam, but i lined up the ribs so it's not toooo obvious. end result: sexeh 40's waders.

I really need shoes at the moment too, but don't really have the casholas to but them full price. But i haven't been wearing these old pink wedges for aages, so i made them into a new pair! (my Dad showed me how to make shoes when i was younger) i completely ripped them apart and recovered the insoles with black leather, then took off some of the hessian weaving on the sole and replaced it with leather as well. i stitched the straps and nailed them onto the base, along with the ribbon straps, and then glueded the insole on top to pull it all together. ta daah...new shoes for $12!

tomorrow i tackle more...
